BIOGRAPHY

With his booming baritone, eclectic style and wry sense of humor, KENTON MACKAY ****** is emerging as one of the most unique voices in Austin’s thriving underground music scene.  His songs are sometimes full of frantic energy, sometimes meditative and thought-provoking, but always deeply compelling.  With the release of his third single “Royalty Free”, he is on the brink of reaching a national audience.

Kenton grew up on a ranch in middle-of-nowhere-Texas during the golden age of music piracy.  He was drawn to the guitar from a young age, spending his early years meticulously studying the blistering riffs of Nirvana, delicate compositions of Radiohead, and eclectic grooves of Beck. After graduating high school and relocating to Austin, Kenton immersed himself in the music of underground Icons like the Black Angels and Broncho.  Soon after, he began singing and writing his own music, and began performing his unpredictable, dynamic music on stages across the city.

Kenton’s songs explore themes of self-destruction, isolation, and modern society.  He’s a satirist at heart, finding both humor and beauty in the mundanity of everyday life.  With his debut EP “In Good Taste” set to release in Spring 2024, and an increasingly busy performance schedule, he is poised to become a fixture in Texas and beyond.
